Authorities (verified)
- Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) — standardization + conformity assessment (Standards Act 18 of 2005).
- Hazardous Substances Ordinance, 1974 — controls import of hazardous substances by danger Group (same family as SA's 1973 Act).
- Environmental Management Act 7 of 2007 — an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) from the Environmental Commissioner is required for listed activities, including permits under the Hazardous Substances Ordinance.
- Medicines: Namibia Medicines Regulatory Council (NMRC), if imported as a medicine.
No pre-shipment PVoC scheme applies. (Note: a claim that the "Environmental Investment Fund" regulates chemical imports is a misattribution — EIF is a funding body — and is not used.)
Treaty status (verified 2026-07-18)
- CWC: State Party (OPCW).
- Rotterdam PIC: Party — Ratification 24 Jun 2005 (InforMEA / UN depositary).
The exact import-permit office and fees are confirmed with your order.
